WMU took down the top team in the Mid-American Conference West division in Northern Illinois at University Arena on Saturday.
The Broncos were able to hold off the Huskies’ furious comeback for a 72-69 win.
The Broncos got out to a quick start, producing an 18-9 lead in the first eight minutes of the game. The WMU defense was forcing turnovers, helping them to build the lead.
It was a first-half lead they needed to have as NIU’s leading scorer, senior Eugene German, was suspended for the first half of the game.
The Broncos would take a 32-24 lead into the locker room as they outshot the Huskies in the first half.
