Just after the 2013-14 season, the last time Western Michigan men's basketball made it to the NCAA tournament, head coach Steve Hawkins received a new six-year contract.
The contract Hawkins signed that went into effect on July 1, 2014 and pays him $385,000 annually between his base salary and media obligations, is set to expire on May 31.
But as the Broncos wrapped up its 2019-20 regular season on Friday in an 85-68 loss at Central Michigan, Hawkins said he hasn't worried about the situation too much and that he and Director of Athletics Kathy Beauregard have engaged in "good talks.
