WMU hockey sweeps weekend series

Western Michigan hockey flexed its muscles this weekend in a clash of conference foes. WMU took down Miami (OH) 8-3 in night one and 2-0 in night two.

Freshman goalie Hampton Slukynsky recorded his first shutout on Saturday night.

This moves Western to 17-4-1 on the season and 9-1-1 in NCHC play. The Broncos moved to first place in the NCHC standings after the win.

Western won game one Friday with its offense which scored eight goals. Seven different Broncos found the back of the net, including Owen Michaels who had two goals on the night.
