Western Michigan hockey senior captain Hugh McGing earned a CCM and American Hockey Coaches Association (ACHA) West First Team All-American honor, announced on ESPN’s “SportsCenter” late Saturday night.
McGing is the first WMU hockey player since the 1986-1987 season to do so when defenseman Wayne Gagne earned the honor.
“Hugh being selected a First Team All-American hockey player is only trumped by the fact he has been an All-American person since he committed to being a Bronco more than six years ago and that is not going to change,” head coach Andy Murray said in the program’s press release.
