Pat Ferschweiler did what most kids who grow up playing hockey can only dream of during the 2021-22 season.
The first-year head coach of the Western Michigan hockey team saw immediate success upon his promotion in lieu of Andy Murray’s sudden retirement. The squad had a remarkable record of 26-12-1, housed the nation’s leading scorer in Ethen Frank, earned the program’s first No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament and captured its ever elusive first NCAA Tournament win.
This earned Ferschweiler a contract extension that will allow the former WMU student-athlete at least four more years to live out his dream.
