KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan hockey team jumped up five spots in both the US College Hockey Online and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine polls to eighth after sweeping No, 4/3 Denver over the weekend.
The Broncos downed the Pioneers 3-1 on Friday night and followed it up with a 5-1 victory on Saturday to move into sole possession of third place in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference. The sweep also moved WMU up to eighth in the Pairwise Rankings, a metric used to determine at-large bids for the NCAAA Tournament. a
This is the fourth straight week Western Michigan has been voted in the top 15 and its second week overall in the top 10.
