A wave of change swept through the Western Michigan hockey program this summer when decade-long head coach Andy Murray unexpectedly resigned after a decade of leading one of the most successful tenures in WMU hockey history.
Murray leaves after accumulating the second-most career wins in program history at 167, three seasons of 20-plus wins, 2 NCAA tournament bids and a CCHA Championship in 2012.
“It’s probably more fun being hired then when you resign,” Murray said. “To me, I’m thankful for the 10 years I’ve had (at WMU). The relationships I’ve developed with so many people whether it’s the other coaches, the administrative staff, our fans and our coaching staff.
