KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan department of intercollegiate athletics is saddened to announce the passing of WMU Hall of Fame men's tennis alum Bob Gill.
Gill passed away last week in Florida.
Gill, the son of WMU Hall of Famer John Gill, played tennis for the Broncos from 1963-65. He was a three-time Mid-American Conference Championship, won the MAC No. 1 Singles crown in 1964 and the No. 1 Doubles title in both 1963 and 64. Gill and his doubles teammate Mike Goodrich advanced to the Round of 16 at the 1964 NCAA Championships, advancing further than any singles or doubles players in program history.
