Days after Western Michigan gymnastics was crowned the Mid-American Conference champions, more accolades will be coming to Kalamazoo.
Head coach Penny Jernigan was named the MAC Coach of the Year on Monday after leading the Broncos to a 6-2 overall record and a 5-1 record in conference play. In her seventh year at the helm, the young team made up of only two seniors took home a MAC regular season championship.
Along with winning her first MAC conference title in her tenure, Jernigan also helped the Broncos get its second highest score in program history with a 196.
