KALAMAZOO, MI - More than 3,400 fans sat through a discomforting 30-plus minutes midway through the highly anticipated men's soccer matchup between RPI No. 1 Michigan State and No. 11 Western Michigan at the WMU Soccer Complex.
While sliding across the turf for a loose ball, the head of Broncos goalkeeper Drew Shepherd collided with the leg of a MSU player.
After providing medical attention, WMU trainers helped Shepherd to his feet, but he fainted on the walk to the sideline.
He remained on the field for more than 30 minutes until an ambulance arrived, but he joined his teammates at practice Thursday in a non-contact capacity.
