Western Michigan football’s chance to clinch the Mid-American Conference West division title slipped away from them last Tuesday in a 17-14 loss to Northern Illinois. The Broncos still had slim hope of getting to the conference championship game even after the loss. They needed rival Central Michigan to lose on Friday to the Toledo Rockets to win the division.
Unfortunately for the Broncos, the Chippewas got the job done on Friday afternoon in a 49-7 win over the Rockets to clinch the division and officially end the Broncos hope. It will be CMU’s first appearance in the MAC championship game since 2009.
