Western Michigan athletic director Dan Bartholomae revealed Monday that the football program would be moving on from head coach Tim Lester.
The decision comes after a 5-7 season for WMU, which was Lester’s first under .500 in his six as the Broncos’ head coach, with the team posting its first losing season since 2013. Bartholomae cited falling short of meeting desired goals and a clear lack of vision within the program as his primary reasons for the coaching change.
“While there are many factors that go into a difficult decision like this one, my ultimate conclusion was that our positioning in many important quantifiable categories did not match our goals, nor the resources that we have invested into this program,” Bartholomae said.
