Last fall, the NCAA Division I Board of Directors appointed the Transfer Waiver Working Group to study potential changes to the current waiver process.
The group recommended that waiver guidelines be amended to allow a one-time transfer waiver for student-athletes in the five sports where legislation does not currently permit immediate eligibility.
The matter could still be voted on in late May, but for now, the recommendation affects many student athletes who are either currently in the transfer portal or those who have already transferred to a school and have to sit out a season due to the current rules.
