WMU football hires former Stanford DB Nick Sanchez as cornerbacks coach

KALAMAZOO, MI - A new NCAA rule that increased the number of assistant football coaches from nine to 10 for the 2018 season meant that all FBS staffs would look a little different this season.

For Western Michigan, the biggest coaching changes will be on the defensive side of the ball, particularly in the secondary.

WMU announced Tuesday the hiring of former Stanford standout Nick Sanchez as the team's cornerbacks coach.

A Belle Glade, Fla., native, Sanchez was a four-year letterwinner and three-year starting cornerback at Stanford from 2003 to 2007, recording 153 tackles, seven interceptions, 19 pass breakups, three forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries in that span.
