WMU football earns first win of season in home opener

After Lance Taylor’s second season saw an 0-2 start, Western Michigan football bounced back in the win column in week three. The Broncos got it rolling early and defeated Bethune-Cookman (0-3) 59-31 Saturday.

The running game broke out in a big way for Western, as they rushed for 372 yards on the ground despite lead back Jalen Buckley being injured. Jaden Nixon led the way, carrying the ball 17 times for 189 yards and two touchdowns. Both Nixon and fellow running back Zahir Abdus-Salaam had career highs in yards as the latter added 104 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
