South Alabama topped Western Michigan 30-23 in Montgomery, Alabama in the IS4S Salute to Veterans Bowl.
The Broncos took a 10-0 lead early in the second quarter, but South Alabama outscored Western 30-13 from that point on.
Quarterback Hayden Wolff went 17/27 for 196 yards, with one touchdown and an interception. Those 17 completions included an unconventional flip to running back Zahir Abdus-Salaam in the backfield to avoid a sack.
Fellow running back Jaden Nixon led the way on the ground, with 11 carries for 45 yards. Abdus-Salaam and Jalen Buckley added nine and eight carries respectively, with Abdus-Salaam going for 33 yards while Buckley ran for 26.
