KALAMAZOO, MI - Western Michigan's Tim Lester found in a strange position during his first season as the Broncos head coach.
For the first time in his young coaching career, he was leading a Division I program, but on game day, he felt more removed from the action than ever.
With co-coordinators Kevin Johns and Jake Moreland leading the offense and Tim Daoust guiding the defense, Lester sometimes saw himself as more of a spectator.
"I always told people that I had a great seat, give me some popcorn, and I get to decide whether we went for it on fourth down or not, that was it," he said after his team's spring practice Tuesday.
