Western Michigan University football cornerback Sam Beal has applied for the 2018 National Football League Supplemental Draft, according to Pete Thamel of Yahoo Sports.
Beal, who would’ve been a senior in the 2018 season, was expected to get the lion’s share of playing time this upcoming season after the departure of Darius Phillips to the Cincinnati Bengals in the NFL Draft. However, due to academic credit shortcomings, Beal was ruled ineligible for the 2018 season. Broncos head coach Tim Lester clarified to Yahoo that Beal did not “flunk out.”
According to the Yahoo Sports report, Beal will continue to train at WMU and the school plans to eventually host his pro day.
