Corbin, who planned on retiring after 36 years in his position after the academic year, had battled cancer for four years. He suffered a catastrophic stroke on March 6 and died peacefully at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo the following day.
Born in Sacramento, California, in 1954, Corbin was raised in Flint, Mich. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree at Central Michigan University, he graduated from the University of Arizona in 1979 with a master’s degree in athletic training. He joined the Bronco athletic department as the head athletic trainer in 1982, after serving three years as an assistant athletic trainer at Bowling Green State University.
