In mid-May, the Mid-American Conference announced a decision to cut travel roster sizes and no longer have home football teams stay in hotels before home games.
The news came after the conference had already announced several changes to cut costs amid the coronavirus pandemic, including cutting championship tournaments from eight sports while making changes to the men’s and women’s basketball tournaments.
As far as hotel stays go, many college football programs have its teams stay in hotels the night before home games for many reasons. Western Michigan is no exception to that rule, as the team has been staying in downtown Kalamazoo at the Radisson Hotel for the past several seasons.
