Last week, Western Michigan defeated MAC West division champs, Northern Illinois 28-21. The seventh win of the season means Tim Lester’s team won’t be shut out of a bowl invitation for a second consecutive year.
After three straight losses and a change at defensive coordinator, the Broncos seventh win will send to the programs ninth bowl game.
The last time the Broncos went bowling was during P.J. Fleck’s tenure in Kalamazoo. Zach Terrell, Corey Davis and the Broncos represented the MAC in the Cotton Bowl losing 24-17 against Wisconsin.
The Broncos will be looking for the second bowl victory in program history, the first coming just three years ago in the 2015 Bahamas Bowl.
