Western Michigan quarterback Zach Terrell has made a name for himself on the football field the past few years, but his efforts away from the gridiron are garnering attention now.
Terrell, a graduate student at Western working on his master's degree in finance, is a semifinalist for the Wuerffel Trophy, the college announced Thursday.
Known as college football's premier award for community service, the honor is named after 1996 Heisman Trophy winner Danny Wuerffel, who played quarterback for the University of Florida.
