An overpowering WMU came out to an aggressive 8-2 start against a much smaller SHU squad, topping out in height out at 6-foot-7. The Broncos went to the line their first three possessions, converting on each six of their free throws. After going down 12-4 early in the first half, the Saints stayed in the game after reaching within 3 points of the Broncos to make it 23-20 after a three from sophomore guard Jon Hovermale with 8:57 minutes left in the half.

While the Saints led the Broncos for most of the first half in the rebound battle, finishing the first period trailing 14 to WMU’s 15 boards, the Broncos gained control and never looked back after junior forward Josh Davis widened the margin with back to back three pointers to put WMU up 40-27 at the minute thirty-five mark.
