Western Michigan hockey wins third straight in shutout of ranked Bowling Green

Lukas Hafner made it a memorable return to his hometown Wednesday night.

The Western Michigan senior goalie racked up 35 saves en route to a 1-0 shutout of top 15-ranked Bowling Green in a neutral-site game at Huntington Center in Toledo, Ohio.

Broncos senior forward Nolan LaPorte's goal with 4:39 left in the second period snapped a scoreless tie and held up as the game-winner.

"Great day for Lukas, obviously, playing in his hometown," WMU coach Andy Murray said in a postgame interview on the Bronco Radio Network. "There were a lot of (No.) 55 placards in the stands, a lot of (Hafner's) family and friends.
