Western Michigan beat Michigan Tech, 1-0, in overtime Friday to win the Great Lakes Invitational at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit.
Forward Colt Conrad made the game-winning shot, the Associated Press reported.
Conrad, a sophomore from Manitoba, made the shot with 8:05 remaining in the overtime period, according to MiHockeyNow.com.
"It means everything," Conrad said at the post-game press conference of hitting the game-winning shot. "We've worked so hard this season and I feel like we are finally getting what we deserve."
With the win, the Bronco hockey team improves to 10-5-3 on the season.
