On a chilly and drizzling Saturday afternoon at the WMU Soccer Complex, the Broncos triumphed 1-0 over visiting Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Junior Defender, Ben Thornton's first-half header handed the team the prize, ending University of Akron's 13-year long dominance.
The Broncos had hosted and humbled the Akron's Zips earlier this month, in what has been a phenomenal season for WMU. Ranked sixth Nationally coming into this fixture, the Broncos had already set a record of thirteen wins in a regular season.
Burdened by what was at stake in this game, the Broncos were in firm control from the first whistle.
