SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Western Michigan track and field wrapped up competition at the Notre Dame Invitational, taking fifth, in a field of top teams on Saturday.
The Broncos scored 31 total points on the day , finishing behind preseason top 25 teams Notre Dame, Michigan Stae and champions Michigan. Louisville finished in second with 11 points and the Wolverines topped the meet with 144.
"Those are some really good teams," said head coach Kelly Lycan. "They all have some top end kids but I thought we competed very well today. We're just a little banged up and don't have that 3-4 solid athletes in every event like wee will need down the road.
