COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Western Michigan track and field team produced some strong results at the Jesse Owens Classic, hosted by Ohio State, this weekend. The weekend was highlighted by Katelyn Spooner moving into fourth all-time in program history in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. She finished with a time of 10:57.75. That was good for second place in the event.
Anichka Malachi kicked off Friday's action by finishing 11th in the long jump. She recorded a mark of 5.39 meters. Claira Gilchrist followed that up by claiming 12th in the 400-meter hurdles, as she crossed the finish line in a time of 1:04.
