GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Western Michigan assistant hockey coach Todd Krygier has left the program to accept an assistant coaching position with the Grand Rapids Griffins, the AHL affiliate of the 11-time Stanley Cup champion Detroit Red Wings.
Krygier spent three season with the Broncos, helping the team to a NCAA Tournament berth in 2017 and a third place finish in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference, tying a program-best, in 2019. WMU won 58 games during the three seasons and scored 377 goals during the stretch. In addition to development and recruiting, Krygier also coached a power play unite that twice eclipsed 20 percent.
