KALAMAZOO, MI - The injury that removed Western Michigan starting quarterback Jon Wassink from last week's loss to Toledo will likely keep him out for the rest of the regular season, head coach Tim Lester revealed Monday during the team's weekly press conference.

Wassink will have surgery this week, and at that point, the coaching staff will be better able to assess a timetable for the quarterback's return.

"I don't know all the exacts," Lester said of the injury. "It's his foot, and as far as surgery, they do like five different scans. The last scan, which was done yesterday, I haven't heard exactly what they're going to do when they're in there, but I know they're going in there this week.
