KALAMAZOO, Mich.- The Western Michigan softball team fell in both games of a doubleheader to Mid-American Conference rival Central Michigan Tuesday at Fran Ebert Field. The Chippewas took game one, 9-0 in five innings, and held off the Broncos by a 1-0 score in game two.
Western Michigan had just one hit in game one, a leadoff single in the first inning by senior Ivy Schaaf. CMU senior pitcher Rachel Knapp (12-6) held the Bronco bats quiet from there, striking out four without allowing a walk. It was Knapp's seventh shutout of the year.
