KALAMAZOO, MI - The Western Michigan football team released its official two-deep Friday hours ahead of its 2018 season opener against Syracuse, and there are several interesting notes among the starters and their backups.
Freshman Jayden Reed is listed as one of the team's three starting receivers, alongside Drake Harris and D'Wayne Eskridge.
At left tackle, sophomore Mark Brooks has surpassed returning starter Zach Novoselsky, who at the beginning of fall camp was still recovering from a broken leg suffered in the 2017 season finale against Toledo.
Novoselsky is listed at the backup.
Defensively, redshirt freshman Corvin Moment is the start at middle linebacker, while Rutgers transfer Najee Clayton is listed at the backup at weakside linebacker.
