SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Western Michigan senior Sarah Anderson shattered a 34-year old program record in the mile run to highlight the track & field team's final day of competition at the prestigious Meyo Invitational on Saturday.
Anderson was played in the fastest heat of the race and finished with a time of 4:46.65, breaking Maggie Lillie-Smith's record of 4:49.20 that had stood since 1985.
"Sarah got put into the fast face and really went with the flow," said head coach Kelly Lycan. "She ran a great split in the mile in the distance medley relay on Friday and I think she knew she was ready to run fast.
