KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Linebacker Robert Spillane has been named the MAC West Defensive Player of the Week for his performance against Northwestern on Saturday, in Western Michigan's 22-21 win.
Spillane finished the game with seven tackles, second most on the team, a sack and a forced fumble with three minutes to go with the Broncos backed up against their own goalline to help preserve the victory.
For Spillane it techinically is the second straight week he has been named MAC West Defensive Player of the Week, earning the award last season vs. Miami (OH), before having his season end due to injury the following week against Eastern Michigan.
