Michigan assistant basketball coach Saddi Washington will not be coming home to his alma mater, according to a report from Michigan insider Sam Webb from 247sports.
Washington, who played at WMU from '94-'98 and is in the Western Michigan Hall of Fame, was considered a top candidate for the vacant WMU men's basketball head coaching job after the Broncos basketball program announced long-time coach Steve Hawkins would not return for an 18th season in the middle of last week.
Hawkins' salary as WMU's coach was $385,000 annually between his base salary and media obligations, while Washington's salary increased to $330,000 at Michigan.
