Western Michigan softball (18-27, 9-11 MAC) fell to the Miami Redhawks (34-14, 16-4 MAC) in the first game of the Mid-American Conference Tournament Wednesday afternoon, 2-0.
Sydney Stefanick started on the mound for the Broncos while Courtney Vierstra started for the Redhawks. Both of the starters had solid outings.
Stefanick pitched six innings, allowing five hits while striking out two. Despite the solid outing, she was handed the loss due to the Broncos not being able to produce any offensive production.
Vierstra pitched a complete game while punching out eight Broncos and only allowing three hits.
