Western Michigan men’s tennis received several honors after its historic 2021 season as the Mid-American Conference rolled out its awards Monday.
Senior Jannik Opitz won MAC Player of the Year for the second consecutive year, as he also took home the award in 2019 before the 2020 season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Opitz joins Stjepan Sisko of Toledo as the only players to ever win the award twice, with Sisko winning in 2015 and ‘16.
Opitz holds the career records in singles wins (120), doubles wins (120), and total wins (240) at WMU.
