AUSTIN, Texas – Western Michigan men's tennis fifth-year senior Jannik Opitz has added to his legacy, becoming the first male student-athlete in WMU history to become a three-time CoSIDA Academic All-American. Opitz was named First Team At-Large Academic All-American on Friday afternoon.
The Hildesheim, Germany currently boasts a 4.00 GPA in the applied statistics graduate degree program. This season he helped lead the Broncos to the program's 26th Mid-American Conference Regular Season Championship. Opitz was named First Team All-MAC and the MAC Player of the Year, in addition to being an Academic All-MAC selection and an Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar Athlete.
