KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan senior Jannik Opitz became the all-time career wins leader in the history of the storied Western Michigan Men's Tennis program after the Broncos defeated Wayne State University, 7-0, on Wednesday afternoon at West Hills Athletic Club.
The Hildesheim, Germany, native tied Michael Calderone's record of 216 wins after pairing up with Zac Faveri for a doubles win over WSU's Dom Spicer and Luke Laws, 6-4. The record-breaking win came in singles with Opitz defeating Spicer at No. 1, 6-4, 6-2.
"Congratulations to Jannik on his record-breaking 217th win," said head coach Dave Morin.
