The Mid-American Conference Council of Presidents released a statement on Sunday amid nationwide protests sparked by the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minn. on May 25.
"Among the core values of the Mid-American Conference is a commitment to diversity, inclusion and equity and we have embraced and promoted those principles," The statement read. "The member institutions' faculty, staff, students and alumni represent a group from an array of different backgrounds, beliefs and perspectives. Current events point to the need of further efforts to confront intolerance and racism. Acts of violence are contrary to the principles of respect and inclusion.
