Western faced off against the first round winners, the University of Albany, at WMU Soccer Complex. The game stretched itself scoreless as both teams were playing to prove their right to be in the tournament. Western’s ball movement through the midfield was quick and clever but a stout Albany back line was constantly there to end promising attacking threats.
The scoreless drought was broken by the Broncos in minute 39 when a long throw into the box was headed twice towards the back post where Kosti Moni was able to use a header of his own to put the ball in the back of the net.
