KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan men's soccer team tied the University of Akron Friday evening 1-1. Owen Smith would score the game-tying goal for the Broncos during the 49th minute of the second half.
"There are some very challenging tactical responsibilities when you play an Akron team, we were good in some of those moments but fell short in many others." said WMU men's soccer head coach Chad Wiseman.
Akron would take the lead 1-0 in the 27th minute of the first half.
"We're building this team with many new faces, learning lessons and finding results along the way early in the season," said Wiseman, "Today we didn't get our playmakers on the ball enough, some of that is because of Akron, some of that is because we were too direct at times and some of that is the process of our young players learning.
