KALAMAZOO, Mich. – When Lindsey Hufnagel came to Western Michigan University from Flower, Mich., to compete for the WMU Track & Field team in 2012, she had the potential to be a special one.
Hufnagel was thrown into the fire her freshman season, competing in the pentathlon at the Indoor Mid-American Conference Championships and the heptathlon at the Outdoor MAC Championships. She held her own, and even set the second-best mark in the heptathlon in school history that year at 4,957 points.
Her sophomore season was more of the same, with Hufnagel taking on more of a load with additional work in the 400-meter dash and the 4x400-meter relay.
