KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Former Western Michigan baseball player Keegan Akin’s busy offseason continued Wednesday afternoon, as he was named a 2016 American Baseball Coaches of America (ABCA)/Rawlings First Team All-Midwest Region honoree.
Akin was drafted in Round Two, Pick 54 by the Baltimore Orioles, making him the highest WMU draft pick since 1970. Akin was named a Baseball America Third Team All-American, First Team All-MAC, MAC Tournament MVP, First Team All-MAC and to the All-MAC Defensive Team after his monster season. He is the first All-Region member since Greg Graham earned the honor in 2001.
