Currently, Akin is projected to be a top 300 pick in the upcoming Major League Baseball draft, and he’s only a junior.
“It’s always in the back of my mind a little bit,” Akin said about his projected future in the MLB draft. “Right now, my goal is to take the team to a Mid-American Conference (MAC) championship. If that happens, it’s just another additive.”
This past summer, Akin’s skills allowed him to play in the Cape Cod Baseball League, which is a huge accomplishment for any college pitcher.
“It was a good experience; I had a lot of fun out there,” Akin said.
