Kayla Schiera headlined a strong day for the Western Michigan track and field team, as she shattered the school record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Her mark also sits as the third best time in the nation.
Competing at the Raleigh Relays, Schiera posted a time of 10:03.93, which is more than 30 seconds better than the next best time in program history. In the process, Schiera bested four All-American performers from other programs.
Danielle Rinn, Lillian Zelasko and all ran in the 5,000-meter run, with Rinn and Zelasko cracking the program's top 10.
