FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. – Western Michigan senior quarterback Jon Wassink has been named to the watch list for the Wuerffel Trophy, presented by Chick-fil-A Foundation, on Thursday afternoon.
The Wuerffel Trophy, known as "College Football's Premier Award for Community Service," is presented each February in Fort Walton Beach. Named after 1996 Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Danny Wuerffel from the University of Florida, the Wuerffel Trophy is awarded to the FBS player that best combines exemplary community service with athletic and academic achievement.
Wassink is added to the long-line of student-athletes that have excelled on the field and in the community for the Broncos, joining Jamauri Bogan, Zach Terrell and 2009 Wuerffel Trophy winner Tim Hiller.
