KALAMAZOO, MI - Western Michigan's 11-day layoff leading up to next week's game against Ball State gives the team a much needed rest, but the extended break is only the beginning of the road to recovery for starting quarterback Jon Wassink.

WMU coach Tim Lester revealed Monday that the foot injury that knocked the junior signal caller out of the Toledo game likely will keep him from playing in a potential bowl game for the Broncos.

"No, I don't think so," Lester said of a potential return for the Grand Rapids native, who was the Mid-American Conference's second-leading passer when he went down.
