DULUTH, Min. – The Western Michigan hockey team had its four-game unbeaten streak snapped with a 5-1 loss at No. 7 Minnesota-Duluth at AMSOIL Arena on Saturday night.
The Bulldogs jumped out to a 2-0 lead with two goals in the span of 1:17 in the first period. The first came on the power play by Nick Swaney at 15:15: Kobe Rother scored at 16:32 to push the lead to 2-0.
Neither team scored in the second period but the Broncos cut the lead to 2-1 early in the third period. Cedric Fiedler pushed the puck up to Ethen Frank and Frank rushed down the right side of the ice.
