KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan hockey team jumped into the national rankings this week, climbing to No. 19 in the United States College Hockey Online Poll on Monday.
WMU swept rival Ferris State to open the season last weekend, winning 4-0 at Lawson Ice Arena and then coming from behind to defeat the Bulldogs, 4-3, at Ewigleben Arena on Saturday night.
The USCHO.com Poll consists of 40 voters, including coaches and beat writers and sports professionals from across the country. The poll, published weekly by the Associated Press, is a production of USCHO.com, which provides in-depth coverage of college hockey.
